I am founder and Executive Director of Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), an international research, conservation, and education institution with a Centre in Otjiwarongo, Namibia and a field base in Hargeisa, Somaliland. My work with cheetahs started in the U.S. in the early 1970s and began in situ research in 1977 in Namibia, initiating a long-term study assessing biology, reproduction, genetics, demographics, species behavior, habitat, ecosystem, and human impact, continuing today. In 1990, I founded CCF to address threats to wild cheetah. Today, my work encompasses research, policy and working with a broad network of stakeholders to scale CCF’s conservation initiatives across the cheetah’s range.
