I am a Professor at the Institute of Zoology, Zoological Society of London and lead the Africa Range-wide Cheetah Conservation Initiative. I am a conservation scientist and practitioner, with expertise in carnivore ecology and conservation; human wildlife coexistence; biodiversity monitoring; conservation management; landscape conservation and connectivity; rewilding; land use change; and conservation policy. I have more than 30 years' experience in scientific research and conservation of cheetahs and other felids. Since 1991 I have led the Serengeti Cheetah Project in Tanzania, which is the longest ongoing study of individually recognised wild cheetahs.
