My research focuses on the ecology and evolution of mammals, particularly wild cats and small carnivores in Southeast Asia. I am integrating in-situ field work, species distribution modelling, and genetic approaches to elucidate the ecological requirements, and past and current distribution patterns of these species. We are mainly using camera-trapping and environmental DNA (including its sub-discipline invertebrate-derived DNA) to find and study rare and elusive species, such as wild cats. A focus of my research is to assess the resilience of these species to anthropogenic caused environmental changes and by this to contribute to the efficacy of species conservation activities.
