Summary: The Macedonian Ecological Society photographed a rare Balkan lynx (Lynx lynx martinoi) in the Mavrovo National Park. In Macedonia there are about 30 lynx living in the mountain area along the Macedonian-Albanian border.

Description of the camera-trapping method is given next. Poaching is one of the biggest factors for the lynx survival. Public awareness is foreseen in the project to educate the local people and hunters. Statement of Dime Melovski is mainly about the distribution of the Balkan lynx, threats and the future activities of the Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme (Conservation Strategy Workshop, National Action Plan). However, one of the main activities in the future will be raising the awareness of the lynx among the people in MK.
